Students have watched their 150 Chinook salmon eggs morph into 3-5-inch fish in the parr stage. They were all working on the same challenge - to build bridges that could span different distances between tables. They were given a limited number of simple supplies - a pencil, rubber bands, straws, toothpicks, putty, some paper clips, sheets of paper and a couple of paper cups. 					<description><![CDATA[Fawkes suffered a devastating injury leading to a debilitating condition called "Bubble Butt Syndrome."  It might sound funny, but it can be deadly for a young sea turtle like Fawkes - named by the South Caroline Aquarium Sea Turtle Hospital employees after a character in the Harry Potter series. Lee Elementary second-graders could see the weights placed on the back end of Fawkes'  shell during a Skype session with the aquarium. The weights, they learned,  help the turtle dive to get the food he needs.]]></description>

It was a one-of-a-kind view for Lee Elementary students as they watched the otters from the rocks high above the water enclosure at the South Carolina Aquarium. No  - it wasn't a lavish field trip. Using Skype technology in Lee Elementary's Makerspace room,  Mr. Fischer's second-grade class interacted with Susan Snide, a distance learning interpreter for the aquarium.]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[Blue, green, yellow, orange and white Lego pieces were stacked in varying heights representing different fractions. At a nearby table, Little Bits were used to turn wheels and make lights go on and off demonstrating simple circuits. And later, students used their ingenuity and creativity as they tried to build the tallest tower possible using 100 Keva Planks.

Students have two new four-square courts and are learning to play the game at recess. They also now have an additional basketball hoop with new cement court to go with the hoop that was relocated making room for the four-square court. "I kind of feel like a giant," said the TKHS junior as he walked down the hall where he once attended second and third grades. But that was a few years ago and now Brummel and his friends are coming back to their elementary school as role models for younger students. Members of the TKHS football team are volunteering time to be with Lee students on the playground, interact with them, and just show them good sportsmanship and good leadership.]]></description>

More than 500 students from Hastings, Delton Kellogg, Thornapple Kellogg and Barry County Christian schools visited different stations set up at the fairgrounds to learn about agriculture and its importance to Barry County and the state.]]></description>
