My name is Erin Roon and I will have the pleasure of being your child’s teacher this year.  I am so excited to be a part of the Lee teaching staff.  I am looking forward to having the opportunity to help your child grow in all aspects of development this year.  I want to know all about your child, but first let me tell you about me.

I have lived in Middleville my whole life and was a TK graduate.  I have a younger sister, Megan that also works for TK, as a social worker at the high school.  I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Central Michigan University in speech and language pathology, which included a teaching degree.  After graduating and starting my first job in the Caledonia school system, I went on to earn certifications in early childhood and autism.  During my time in Caledonia, I taught a preschool speech and language impaired classroom, serviced students Preschool – Post High School as a speech and language pathologist and became the first autism teacher consultant for the district.  After 12 years in Caledonia, I left to work in private practice serving children with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders and their families.  During that time I earned several certifications in a wide variety of techniques that I am confident will serve your children well and provides me with a large toolbox to draw upon when meeting the student’s individual needs.  After 16 years in private practice, I felt a calling back to the schools and was thrilled when the opportunity to teach the early elementary autism classroom presented itself.  Young children have always been my passion and I look forward to teaching your child.

I have one 13-year-old daughter, Exley who will be in 8th grade at the middle school this year.  She is involved in several sports, soccer, basketball and track that keep us really busy in the evenings and on weekends.  Outside of being a sports mom, I love to read, walk, and travel.  My goal is to hit all 50 states.  I’m almost there, just 7 more to go.
